ALL students right out of high school who wish to apply for financial aid for undergraduate admission must complete this form.  Concord’s FAFSA code is 003810.

This program is for OUT-OF-STATE students (ONLY) who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree.  There are three tuition reduction options: 

1. Academic Program of Study Option, for students who select certain majors like biology or chemistry;

2. Border Counties Option, for students who live in counties that border West Virginia; and

3. Children of Educator Option, for children of teachers and school administrators.

West Virginia Higher Education Grant
Monetary awards are granted to qualified undergraduate students who require financial assistance to attend an approved educational institution located in West Virginia. Grants may be renewed until the course of study is completed, but not to exceed an additional three years beyond the initial award.

Higher Education Adult Part-time Student (HEAPS) Grant Program
The Higher Education Adult Part-time Student (HEAPS) Grant Program is designed to encourage and enable needy West Virginians, who desire to continue their education at the postsecondary level on a part-time basis, to pursue their educational goals. The object of the workforce development component of HEAPS is twofold: assisting recipients in upgrading their occupational skills and, by offering an incentive for additional education and training, to improve the workforce of West Virginia.

SCHOLARS OF DISTINCTION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Presidential** - Recipient should have a 3.75 cumulative GPA and 28 ACT or 1240 SAT.*** However, other criteria such as the applicant's essay, interview and/or leadership experiences may help to qualify students whose test scores are not up to these levels. The Presidential Scholarship will cover full tuition, mandatory fees and room and board. West Virginia PROMISE Scholar recipients must apply their scholarship to tuition and fees.
Amount: In-state Value $11,108* - Out-of-State Value $16,700*

Dean's** - Recipient should have a 3.75 cumulative GPA and 28 ACT or 1240 SAT.*** However, other criteria such as the applicant's essay, interview and/or leadership experiences may help to qualify students whose test scores are not up to these levels. The Dean's Scholarship will cover full tuition, mandatory fees and room and board. West Virginia PROMISE Scholar recipients must apply their scholarship to tuition and fees.
Amount: In-state Value $11,108* - Out-of-State Value $16,700*

Marsh** - Recipient should have a 3.75 cumulative GPA and 28 ACT or 1240 SAT.*** However, other criteria such as the applicant's essay, interview and/or leadership experiences may help to qualify students whose test scores are not up to these levels.
Amount: In-state Value $5,000 - Out-of-State Value $8,000

CONCORD UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Academic Excellence - Recipient must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and
25-36 ACT or 1140-1600 SAT***
Amount: $2,000 and up

ACT/SAT - Recipient must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and 21-24 ACT or
960-1130 SAT***
Amount: $500 and up

Academic Achievement - Recipient must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and
21-24 ACT or 960-1130 SAT***
Amount: $500 and up
(Student will receive either the ACT or SAT Scholarship plus the Academic Achievement Scholarship.)

Director's - Recipient must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and 18-20 ACT or
870-950 SAT***
Amount: $500 and up Non-renewable

Legacy - Recipient must be a dependent of a Concord College or Concord University alumna or alumnus
Amount: $1,000 (Non-renewable)

Mid-Atlantic - Recipient must be an out-of-state resident and have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and 21-36 ACT or 960-1600 SAT***
Amount: $1,000 and up

Student Activities - Based on high school extra-curricular activities
Amount: $250 and up

Governor's Honors Academy - Recipient must have attended his or her state's Governor's Honors Academy
Amount: $1,500

Entrepreneurial Studies Program
Gain mastery in the knowledge and skills necessary to start your own business.  Concord University accepts up to 10 students per year and students must complete a separate application. For students interested in owning their own business, selection by the Division of Business (separate application - open to all majors)
Amount: $500 - $5,000

Bonner Scholars Program

For those interested in civic and community service. . .  The Bonner Scholar Program seeks to transform the lives of students at twenty-seven colleges and universities as well as their campuses, local communities, and nation by providing access to education and opportunities to serve.  To achieve this mission, the Bonner Foundation provides four-year community service scholarships to approximately 1,500 students (who are referred to as Bonner Scholars) annually (nationwide). The scholarship serves those individuals who have high financial need and a commitment to service. It is designed to heighten the overall education a Scholar receives by asking students to engage in ongoing service work and helping them develop the tools and the knowledge necessary to make that work meaningful and lasting.

Concord University accepts 20 students per year into the Bonner Scholars Program.  Those interested must complete a separate application.

Concord University Book Award - Recipient must have attended the Book Award program

Boy's State - Recipient must have attended his state's American Legion Boy's State camp
Amount: $500

Girl's State - Recipient must have attended her state's American Legion Girl's State camp
Amount: $500

Hugh O'Brian - Recipient must have attended the Hugh O'Brian Youth Foundation camp
Amount: $500 Non-renewable

Transfer Scholarship - Recipient must have a 3.0 transferable college or university GPA
Amount: $500 and up

Advanced Placement - Recipient must provide an advanced placement score of 3 or better
Amount: $300 - $500 Non-renewable One Scholarship per student

Foundation - Recipient must meet criteria established through the Concord University Foundation
Amount: $250 and up

**Application and interview required for scholars of distinction. Applications must be submitted by January 15, 2009. Scholars of Distinction recipients will be considered early admission applicants.
